Robin Mukherjee

With over 30 years of experience in the payments business across multiple geographies, Robin is a highly experienced professional with a proven track record of delivering successful new products and services, growing business segments, optimising product solutions and negotiating mutually beneficial commercial agreements.

Robin began his career with American Express in the UK working with the travelers cheque product operations team before moving to Paris. He then assumed responsibility as product manager for travelers cheque and foreign exchange software products commercialised to banks in the Southern Europe region.

Moving to Brussels to join Europay/MasterCard Europe, he was appointed Country Manager for France.  Robin worked on launching the new Maestro Debit card product for the French market, as well as introducing the new “Priceless” marketing campaign, before moving to commercial products to launch Europe’s first corporate purchasing card product with the French Ministry of Defence. Later, he joined the Global Key Account team to manage the commercial relationship with the largest MasterCard issuer in France.

In Dubai, Robin was appointed Head of Cards at Emirates Bank International (Emirates NBD). Responsible for the cards P&L, he achieved above market growth for net receivables, and established the bank’s cobrand programs with Emirates Airline. He also launched high-net-worth premium products as well as revamping the Diners Club card franchise owned by Emirates NBD.

In 2008, Robin joined Visa as the Area Manager for the UAE market and successfully negotiated several large card issuing deals with key banks. He launched the consumer cobrand product with Emirates Airline for which he received special recognition from the President of Visa. Later, he transferred to the Product solutions group and led the team that aggressively grew revenue on risk and data products, before taking on responsibility for authentication solutions and 3D Secure growth in a region of 72 markets. His most recent mission was to lead the European “SCA SWAT team” to support strategic partners (FAANG tech giants & key merchants) in optimising their implementation of PSD2/SCA in the 30 EEA markets.
